A marketing checklist for Calgary HVAC and plumbing contractors

Check your service coverage, mobile call path and dispatch data before spending more on local marketing.

Before increasing your ad budget, trace one service request from a homeowner’s search to a booked appointment. Do it twice: once for an urgent repair and once for a planned replacement.

Define what dispatch can take

List the jobs you accept, the neighbourhoods or towns you can reach, and the hours someone actually answers. For HVAC, separate no-heat calls from furnace replacement estimates. For plumbing, separate active leaks or backups from scheduled replacements. Give each intake path an owner and a callback expectation your team can meet.

Test what the homeowner sees

Search for one priority job and open the page from a phone. Check whether the service, area and next step are obvious. An urgent call should have a visible phone number and accurate availability. An estimate form can ask for a postal code, the issue and a preferred callback time. Have someone on the team check that a test submission reaches dispatch.

Track the steps between a click and a job

For two weeks, record the source when known, the job requested, whether it was in area, whether you reached the caller and whether the appointment was booked. Review missed calls alongside form leads. If ads bring calls you can take but callbacks are slow, fix the handoff before spending more. If most calls are for jobs you do not do, review search terms and targeting.

Start with HVAC Google Ads, plumbing local SEO or coverage around Calgary.
